Auto City Speedway 2010 Season Underway!!
{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}The rains held off and Auto City Speedway opening night finally happened on Saturday, April 24th. Lots of intrepid race fans and the Mt. Morris J.H. “Race 2 Read” program winners braved the cool temperatures, as all five of Auto City’s divisions put on a great show.{nl}Auto City started there features off with the presentation of trophies to the Mt. Morris J.H. and the Race 2 Read Program winners that crushed their goal. Nick Clemens (Mr. Carr) headed this program, which was something the kids got excited about. Auto City was happy to be able to help by giving all the students in the school a ticket to the races. Auto City hopes to continue this program next year to other schools.{nl} Races started when Kyle Hayden led qualifying for all 16 Auto City Super Stocks on hand with a 15.27. Heat race wins went to Samuel Coulter and Johnny Belott. The 40-lap feature was a thriller right from the start. Two changes will make this season exciting - double-file restarts and the top eight qualifiers drowning for starting position. Much to the skeptic’s dismay, fast-qualifier Hayden drew the pole position with 2nd-year youngster Josh Hobson on the outside. Hayden jumped out in front but Hobson stayed right with him and ran the best race of his short oval track career. On lap 10, Belott running his first ACSS race, took over the top spot. But 6 laps later Robbie Johnson got around him on a restart and led until lap 21, Hayden regained the advantage. "The Professor" led the rest of the way for the win. Johnson was second followed by Jeff Owens, Shaun Whitney and Hobson.{nl} {nl} {nl}
