Result July10th

{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}{nl}     Ken O'Connor showed why he's one of the best drivers in the state as he won his second Sam Faur Memorial Modified race in 3 years at Auto City July 10th.  The weather was perfect and the fans were treated to some great racing.{nl}     Defending track champ and 2009 Sam Faur race winner Travis Eddy led the 27 car field in qualifying with 16.20 on the 1/2 mile.  Mike Luberda, Sr. took the win in the 7-car dash, while qualifying heats went to Buck Harsen and Joe Morrisette.  Elsie's Adam Hudson took the lead in the 70-lap feature from the pole but veteran Tony Brabbs brought out the caution just 2 laps into the race.  O'Connor took over the lead on the restart and proved to be the strongest car in the field.  Hudson had a good run in his first trip to Auto City but dropped out at lap 41.  Eddy worked his way toward the front but he too had problems and went to the pits on lap 42.  O'Connor checked out as he led all but 1 lap to take the victory along with a huge payday.  Nick Clemons finished for the 3rd straight year.  Rounding out the top 5 were Harsen, rookie Trevor Berry and Greg Fullerton.{nl}     Jordan Lechota again set fast time for the Mt. Morris-Clio Pure Stocks with a 16.50.  Heat race winners were Tony Williams and Duane Damon.  Andrew Burton took the early lead in the 25-lap feature but Damon took over on lap 5.  Three laps later Lonnie saumier, Jr. got by him and never looked back as the "Buzzsaw" held on for the win.  Damon held off Lechota for second while Chad Lamson and Nick Johnston rounded out the top 5.{nl}     Jim Danisl, Jr. was fast qualifier in the Spaulding Life Insurance Virtual Six division with an 18.66.  The Hornets were allowed to run as well and Jacob Thom won the heat race.  The two 4-cylinder Hornets, Thom and Jake Thompson started 1 lap down in the 15-lap feature, but it didn't take long for them to catch the field.  There was some exciting racing as Shame McMullen led the first 5 laps.  Rusty Williams took over the top spot and held it until lap 10 when both Thom and Thompson got by.  The two cars came to the checkered flag side-by-side and Thompson slammed the 4th turn wall, giving the win to Thom.  Williams took second followed by Daniels, Ken McMullen and Ron Landskroener.{nl}     It was one of the most thrilling Bob Kern's Auto Repair Krazy 8 races of the year as Tony Williams started on the pole.  There were close calls at the intersection the entire race but Willaims stayed out of trouble to take the win.  Duane Damon was second followed by Andrew Burton, Chad Lamson and Ray Derminer.{nl}     It's Banana 101.5 night this Saturday as the Auto City Super Stocks and Modern Concrete Street Stocks return to action.  The MCR Dwarf cars are also on the card for the annaul Tommy Bowles Memorial.  For more info call 810-686-9500 or go to www.autocityspeedway.com.{nl} {nl}.AOLWebSuite .AOLPicturesFullSizeLink { height: 1px; width: 1px; overflow: hidden; } .AOLWebSuite a {color:blue; text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer} .AOLWebSuite a.hsSig {cursor: default}{nl}
