Auto City Speedway
Results Sept 4th
It was chilly, rainy and windy, but the intrepid fans at Auto City packed the stands for some exciting action as GLS Building Trades presented "Maximum Destruction" on Saturday, Sept. 4th. There were fireworks in the sky along with plenty on the track as well.{nl} The Mt. Morris-Clio Herald Pure Stocks were featured on the 1/4 oval as Duane Damon set fast time with a 16.47. Chad Lamson won the dash while heat races went to Tony Williams and Andrew Burton. Lonnie Saumier, Jr. pulled ahead to start the 25-lap feature and led the first 13 laps. But Jordan Lechota took over the lead with LJ right on his tail. Lapped traffic almost got in the way, but Lechota padded his point lead as held on for the win. Saumier took second followed by Damon, Scott Beach and Nick Johnston.{nl} The Spaulding Insurance Hornets were on hand and it was all about Jacob Thom as he set fast time with 17.22, won the heat and the feature. Andrew Shelton, Kyle Everson, Brittney Huryan and Austin Fredwell rounded out the top 5 in the main event.{nl} But the crowd showed up for the crash fest, and they were not disappointed. Jim Daniels, Jr. and Donny Matteson, Jr. won the Chain Gang Race, followed by Cam and Cody King and Kyle and Tim Selvig. Matteson also won the Push Car with Jim Rifki. The Selvigs finished second just ahead of Don Dennie and Jeff Severn. Tim Selvig then took the Figure-8 trailer Race while Cory King was victorious in the Skidmore Skid Car Race.{nl} There were 5 "Hare and the Hound" races won by Lonnie Saumier, Jr., Ryan Shelton, Andrew Burton, Gerald Persails, Jr., and Steve Burton. Jordan Lechota Lechota won his third straight School Bus Figure-8, followed by Nick Clemons and Rex Perry.{nl} In the regular Figure-8 Duane Damon took the lead early and stayed there for the win. Andrew Burton was second followed by Gerald Persails, Jr., Chad Lamson and Tony Williams.{nl}
