Results September 25th
Fans braved cold temperatures and were not disappointed as Hubbard's Military Supply presented "Maximum Destruction - The Battle of Destruction" at Auto City on Saturday, Sept. 25th. Season Champions were crowned in 2 divisions and the Motor City Madmen made their debut on the figure-8.{nl} Thirteen high-powered 6-cylinder late models were on hand for the Madmen, as "The General" Jerry Lee set fast time on the "X" with a 20.03. "The Rebel" Dennis Whisman and Sam Hall took heat race wins. Anthony Terris jumped out in front the start the 30-lap main event. The top 5 qualifiers battled up front for the entire race but Terris held his spot to pick up his very first figure-8 victory. Veteran Robbie Loving took second followed by Whisman, Lee and Greg Studte.{nl} The Mt. Morris Herald Pure Stocks had their season championship as Duane Damon had quick time on the 1/4 mile with a 16.52. Craig Bastien nipped Lonnie Saumier, Jr. by inches at the line to win the dash, while heat races went to Tony Williams and Jeff Stinson. Saumier and Bastien continued their battle to start the 25-lap feature, running side-by-side for the first 7 laps. Saumier gained the advantage and the "Buzzsaw" never looked back leading all the way for the win. LJ won the battle but not the war as Jordan Lechota claim the season point championship. Bastien took second in the feature followed by Chad Lamson, Lechota and Damon. {nl} Jacob Thom set fast time for the Spaulding Insurance Hornets with a 17.38. Scott Amy came out of retirement as the new grandfather won the heat in daughter Paige's car. Amy led the first 6 laps of the feature but Thom was too strong as the Jr. Chickenhawk" took the lead and the victory. Andrew Shelton was second followed by Amy, Kyle Everson and Austin Fredwell.{nl} Eighteen cars started the 15-lap championship figure-8 sponsored by Bob Kern's Auto Repair. Lonnie Saumier, Jr. took the lead away on lap one, but point leader Chad Lamson took over on lap 7 and stayed out of trouble to win the race and his second straight Auto City figure-8 crown. Saumier took second followed by Duane Damon, Tony Williams and Andrew Burton.{nl} But the Maximum Destruction fans come to see the crashes and they saw plenty of them. The team of Donny Matteson, Jr. and Jim Daniels, Jr. cleaned up again, first winning the Chain Gang race, with Nick and Ray Michalski taking second, and Tim Delong and Tim Rose finishing third. Matteson and Daniels the won the Push Car race, followed by the Michalskis and Cam and Cory King. Cory pulled away to win his second straight Skidmore Skid Car race, while Gerald Persails, Jr. avoided numerous crashes to take the Figure-8 Trailer Race. "Rollover Rex" Perry took the lead early in the School Bus figure-8, but Maeson made it a big night as he piloted "Sea Biscuit" to victory. Jordan Lechota and Perry rounded out the top 3.{nl} It's the rain-delayed season championships from Sept. 18th this Saturday nights as champs will be crowned in 4 divisions.
